Having read what was available of the series, I hope it continues as it has many potentials to explore. A good story might be the genetic experiments that lead to the Ancients (longer lived humans with interesting potentials), what was the crises that almost wiped out humanity, what happened to those who went to the stars, why was there an agreement to limit technology to a few geographic regions (higher morality not a likely reason).The books so far concentrated mostly on Tor a "builder", someone who could create with magic. Basically someone whose magic seemed to be the ability to zero in on all the atomic particles which made up the object to be created, and creating a key used to create the object, imbedding the key on anything, and then anyone with magic or not could touch the key to recreate the object.
I could almost accept, if it were just simple objects, but this method could be used to create complex irrigation systems, replacement limbs, fully functioning and furnished boats, flying machines, houses etc. These items could appear and disapper by touching the object with the embedded key. A bit of suspended belief required but the potential it allowed for rapid changes made for interesting reading.
The main culture was medieval with a basically decent if self absorbed Royal family and counts with just about unlimited control of their territory and the people within it. Other states existed, all basically autocratic and there was enough intrigue to suit the middle ages.
There is room for much story telling within this imaginative place.

I really enjoy this series (and all the other series by this author). Its a little YA in tone, but the author is able to convey emotion to the reader, and is very prolific, and is price-savvy. I don't know how he does it, but we've gotten 3 or 4 books a year out of this guy. And if the proofing or editing isn't as perfect as it might be (it isn't actually too bad - he does use an editor), I don't hold that against him - I'm looking for story, and this guy has plots oozing out of him. Only criticism is that he hasn't, to my satisfaction, actually completed any of the series he's started. He has started new worlds/story-lines, but it'd be great to wrap up a couple of his worlds before starting a new line. That said, its clear that he has enough plots in his head to keep us all quite happy for a long time.
Read the whole series but this is my first review. I almost didn't continue after the first book because I was disappointed by the lack of engagement. It seemed to be a story about and fantastically incredible boy who could literally do anything, and faced almost no adversity beyond what I perceived as his own naivity. While entertaining it wasn't what I normally look for in fantasy books. I was pleasantly surprised by the second book and the amount of conflict, both internal and external the character faced. This was a story I could read, a tale I could lose myself in. I'm sure if you're viewing this page then you have read the others but I feel this book is the best so far. We get a very good idea of who the main character is, and all of his previous "quirks" are revealed to truly be severe flaws, making this supposed superhuman seem much more normal. If nothing else read this series for the author's incredible imagination. I love the world the P.S. Powers has created, it is a breath of fresh air in what can be a very stale epic fantasy world. He combines magic, adventure, science and technology in a way I had never even considered. This has become one of my favorite series of all time and I am anxiously awaiting the next addition.
To be honest if I had any complaints other than the minor grammatical and spelling errors would be that the book didn't feel as long as the others. Also noted that on my kindle the book actually ended at 97% and there were about 10 blank pages so the book is a little bit shorter than advertised. This could have been my kindle though and not the actual book itself.
I've read this entire series, and I must say that I really enjoy the story line for these books. I think a couple of the earlier books (not the first one) contained too much descriptive sex. But this one went back to mostly leaving out the descriptions and just casually mentioning that sex occurred. That was MUCH better. I'm much more interested in reading science fiction and not comfortable reading very descriptive sex.
I also liked the new direction that our protagonist took. It's nice to see him not quite so insecure. It was also nice to see his wife start to grow a little as her own character, and not just remain the too young girl who had to be protected.
In all, after the first two books, this is my favorite in the series.
Areas for improvement. The editing is still horrendous. If you can, like I do, ignore the grammmatical errors and concentrate on the story line, I think you will find this book quite enjoyable. However, the author should really make an effort to distinguish between "their" and "they're" and "were", "where" and "we're". Just correcting those errors would make a huge difference.
A common criticism of P.S. Power in the previous installments of The Your Ancients series is the author's tendency to meander over the course of the book. In Slave Line, however, P.S. Power is laser-sharp focused on telling his story. Indeed, the author is intent on explaining the behavior of Torrence Baker and his autistic tendencies, through the use of pseudo science and genetics.
Some readership may find such explanation outlandish and incredible, but the author is intent on moving beyond the hero's mental deficiencies and show what a "normal" Tor should look like.
Why does P.S. Power need a normalized Tor? Because the author has some devious conspiracies in place and Tor needs every ounce of his mental capabilities to meet these new challenges. At stake is merely the fate of the world.
Slave Line is a wonderful wrap up to The Young Ancients series. Whether the author chooses to write additional installments with the same cast of supporting characters, or go in a totally new direction remains to be seen.
